Where it differs from Wikipedia is in the structure beneath the page. Signal is built around defined environmental signals, quantitative observations, source provenance, actor attribution, geographies, and explicit interpretive lenses. It combines the public legibility of a knowledge commons with some of the structured-data character of a market terminal and the explanatory discipline of a public observatory.

Environmental harm is difficult to reason about because evidence, models, responsibility, and interpretation are usually scattered across reports, datasets, institutions, and debates. Signal is designed to hold those pieces together in a persistent public system.
